Illustration

I studied Illustration for four years at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Since then, I've designed flyers, album art, t-shirt designs and typography for bands around Atlanta. I apply my background in illustration to my current design projects through creative thinking, color theory, design principles, and visual communication.

Style

exploring & adapting

As an illustrator, I love exploring new styles and ways to express myself visually. I'm able to adapt my designs to the needs of the client and stakeholders by trying a variety of visual styles and mediums.

As a UI designer, I'm interested in the ways different styles are interpreted by the user. Do they seem friendly, professional, minimal, or expressive? Do they make the product more enjoyable for the user? These are the questions that drive me as a designer to experiment with new shapes and methods.

Personas

empathy for the user

Creating personas is one of my favorite parts of user research. Putting a visual image to a description of a user helps me really feel like they are real, and in turn make me invested in them. The illustrations below are a selection of random personas that I created.

Icons

simple & user friendly

I love that icons can be totally utilitarian, like a homepage button or a menu symbol, but they can also be really creative and fun. For me, the most important aspects of good iconography are simplicity and readability.

I've included a few examples of icon packs that I've created just for fun below. I've also created icons in my professional life, such as the ones I made for Modern Mystic Shop's line of Essential Oils.
